Nikon D4 Multi Media DSLR

Nikon have announced their latest professional DSLR the D4 which they call Multi Media due to the full HD video capabilities which they say are more than suitable for broadcast.

Nikon say that their 51-point AF System has been enhanced for maximum speed, a new 16.2-megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor has been introduced and top help in difficult low light situations the camera can provide a broad ISO range from 100 to a staggering 204,800 and a new 91,000-pixel 3D color matrix meter.

Bo Kajiwara, director of marketing, Nikon Inc. says  “The status of a Nikon flagship camera is not given lightly; this next generation of Nikon’s most professional body exceeds the needs of a wide variety of both still and multimedia professionals that rely on Nikon to make their living. Besides overall performance and burst speed, the D4 provides Nikon’s most advanced AF system to date, as well as enhanced workflow speed to give professionals the edge in the field.”

Sigma Capture Pro Software

Sigma have released software for their SD1 Digital SLR camera that allows remote operation via a PC through the USB port. The Sigma Capture Pro allows users to control everything remotely such as ISO, shutter speed, aperture and exposure. The software also alows control the shutter to capture your images.

Sigma Capture Pro allows you to store you images either directly on the camera’s CF card, the PC’s hard drive or of course both simultaneously. The software is available for both windows and Mac, click inside for more information and the link to download.

Parkside Optical have released a new version of their LensPens sporting a new modem and sleek design. The LensPen is completly safe for all lens and filter surfaces using carbon cleaning technology.

LensPen maker Parkside Optical confirm that although the cleaner looks new, it still has the same unmatched features that have made LensPen an optics necessity, not just an accessory. It will be formally released at CES 2012 which is on between the 10th and 13th January 2012.

SIGMA Release 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC HSM

Sigma have confirmed the release of their 17-50mm F2.8 EX DG HSM lens which is suitable for Sony and Pentax mounts, the lens will be available from 9th December. This DSLR lens offers a large aperture and is perfect for both portrait and  landscape pictures.

Sigma advise that the lens features their Super Multi-Layer Coating which they say reduces flare and ghosting issues, the HSM stands for Hyper Sonic Motor which ensures fast and quiet Auto Focus all of which provides a good all round and affordable lens for its niche.

Update For Samyang 8mm Nikon Fisheye

Samyang have added a CPU in its 8mm Fisheye lense for Nikon mounts which they say will allow for full control of exposure parameters from the camera level. Samyang also say that it will improve and make it easier for those wishing to use i-TTL flash automatics.

The Samyang 8mm Nikon Fisheye lens is designed for DSLR cameras with APS-C/DX sensor.

Kingston DataTraveler urDrive

Kingston Digital have announced an application for their data storage USB Flash Drives called the urDrive. Kingston’s USB drives are called DataTraveler and the urDrive will be preloaded on a variety of these drives and is able to launch an application that allows its users to easily access and organize files, photos, videos and music.

Other features include a built-in Photo Viewer, Web browser, games and music player which can be launched on demand. It also adds security, access to online storage, apps, games and lots more.

Canon PIXMA PRO-1 A3+ Printer

Today Canon announces their flagship printer which features an EOS-inspired design. The printer uses what they describe as a ground breaking 12 ink colour system which provides exceptional colour gamut and a Chroma Optimizer for increased black density and uniform glossiness.

Canon say that the LUCIA pigment ink will ensure outstanding photo printing permanence and that the high capacity ink tanks which have been used ensure that their will be long periods between replacements, although the size and period between replacements will no doubt be reflected in the price. The PRO-1 also features a print head with 12,288 nozzles, as well as supporting 1200ppi input resolution and promises to be a true leader in its field.

Canon’s New EOS-1D X

Canon have today confirmed the release of their new top of the range DSLR the EOS-1D X and this camera replaces both the EOS-1Ds Mark III and EOS-1D Mark IV models.

This new model is capable of shooting an incredible 12 frames-per-second (fps), features an 18-megapixel full-frame Canon CMOS sensor and Dual DIGIC 5+ Imaging Processors. The EOS-1D X DSLR also boats an amazing brand new 61-Point High Density Reticular AF system, which Canon says is the most sophisticated DSLR AF system they have ever released.

Wooden Sigma SD1

Rather bizarrely Sigma have released a wooden case version of their high end professional’s SD1 DSLR camera. The camera boasts a 15×3-megapixel Foveon x3 sensor,  resolution of 460,000 pixels and an autofocus system with 11 twin shifted cross type AF points.

The new Wooden version has a recommended retail price of  €9,999 and to be honest I wouldn’t be seen dead with it.

SIGMA 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM

Sigma have confirmed the latest lens the 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM which features Sigma’s FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) and SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements.

Sigma also say that the 11.1x high zoom ratio lens incorporates their original OS (Optical Stabilizer) function and offers a broad shooting range from wide angle to telephoto.

Sigma SD1 Firmware Update

Sigma have released a firmware update for their SD1 DSLR camera and the update should be applied to any SD1 camera that has firmware “Ver.1.02” and lower.

The update improves the accuracy of Auto White Balance, evaluative of exposure metering and of the flashgun light control. Sigma also say that the image quality at high ISO (ISO3200 and ISO6400) is improved (only RAW file) and sharpness processing is improved (only RAW file). Click inside for the download details.

Canon EOS Adventure

Canon hopes to educate and inspire young and amateur photographers with something called the Canon EOS adventure. Its a pan European campaign which has been developed in collaboration with Yahoo! and offers a chance not only for photographers to learn but also showcase their pictures both on Yahoo! and Flickr.

Canon Adds AirPrint Wireless to PIXMA

Canon has anounced that it has added AirPrint capabilities to three of its latest PIXMA colour printers which adds the ability to print wirelessly from the iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 4 and iPod touch.  Canon has also confirmed that AirPrint will be supported on the majortiy of future models.

For those who haven’t heard of it, AirPrint allows users to wirelessly print photos, emails, web pages and other documents without the need to install device drivers, saving time and making for a seamless user experience.

Olympus Firmware Update E-5 DSLR

Olympus has released a firmware update, v1.2, for its E-5 Four Thirds DSLR. The firmware version 1.2 corrects the movement of the dial on the optional HLD-4 battery grip and ensures matches the movement of the selected AF point.
